Éamon Ó Cuív: In August 2005, I announced that the CLÁR programme would provide 100% funding for flashing amber safety lights at all national schools in CLÁR areas that did not already have such lights. Each local authority was invited to submit proposals. Tipperary North County Council applied for flashing amber safety lights at five schools and this funding was approved on 11 October 2005.

Éamon Ó Cuív: The issue raised in the correspondence is one for Waterways Ireland, which is a North-South Implementation Body that is co-sponsored by my Department and the Department for Culture, Arts and Leisure in the North. My Department contacted Waterways Ireland on the matter to obtain a report, which was received on 11 October 2005. A reply has issued to the Deputy today.
