Pat Deering: The first item is the scrutiny of EU legislative proposals. Schedule A is COM (2016) 698, a proposal for a Council regulation fixing for 2017 the fishing opportunities for certain fish stocks and groups of fish stocks applicable in Union waters and for Union fishing vessels in certain non-EU waters. It is proposed that the proposal does not warrant further scrutiny. Is that agreed? Agreed.

How best can we challenge or take advantage of the opportunities? As for the timeframe, the Prime Minister has indicated that she will trigger Article 50 before the end of March. Pat Deering: We will move on to the next issue, which is obviously linked to Brexit to a certain extent. The issue is Common Agricultural Policy, CAP, reform post-2020. While a copy of the professor's opening statement has been circulated to members of the committee, I ask him to address its key points before we revert to the members.
