Joint Oireachtas Committee On Key Issues Affecting The Traveller Community: Traveller Health: Discussion (Resumed) (5 Nov 2019)

Lynn Ruane: That is an issue. I am talking about training directly with Traveller organisations and doing training that is not medical-led. They should have experience of people's lives that is not necessarily a medical placement.

Committee on Public Petitions: Decisions on Public Petitions Received (23 Oct 2019)

Lynn Ruane: I agree. I am a member of the Joint Committee on Education and Skills and we often examine this area. As I am still fairly new to this committee, I do not know whether it refers to other committee work. I am pretty sure we have published reports on this specific issue. When we respond to a petition, can information be provided directing the petitioner to the work of other committees in...

Joint Oireachtas Committee on Justice, Defence and Equality: Online Harassment and Harmful Communications: Discussion (Resumed) (23 Oct 2019)

Lynn Ruane: I am not a member of the committee and apologise for not being here for the opening statements. I became aware of the topic quite late and, as such, it was a bit of a last-minute dash. I thank the committee for allowing me to contribute. I am motivated to come here by two particular cases, namely, that of Dara Quigley and that of Jacqueline Griffin. I have specific questions which are...

Joint Oireachtas Committee On Key Issues Affecting The Traveller Community: Traveller Health: Discussion (22 Oct 2019)

Lynn Ruane: First of all I must say thank you to Missie. Sometimes I fear that I am becoming desensitised to trauma, pain and struggle. I definitely had this challenged in me just there. I was definitely re-energised in listening, supporting and continuing that fight she has long been fighting. Hopefully we can play a part and see through all of the work the witnesses have been doing for all of these...

Seanad: An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business (9 Oct 2019)

Lynn Ruane: I second Senator Black's amendment to the Order of Business. I wish to raise my concern about and hope for the group announced by the Minister for Employment Affairs and Social Protection regarding a statutory maintenance agency. I have been a bit scarred by judge-led task forces in recent years with regard to my drug decriminalisation Bill and how that panned out. The Minister means well...
