Shane Ross: The Convention on Road Traffic 1949 (Geneva Convention), allows drivers from Contracting States carrying a valid driver’s licence to drive on each other’s roads for up to a year.  Ethiopia is not a signatory to the Convention, therefore it is not possible for a person visiting Ireland to drive in Ireland on an Ethiopian driving licence.
