- Seanad: Public Service Pay and Pensions Bill 2017: Committee and Remaining Stages (14 Dec 2017)
Rose Conway Walsh: I oppose this section. We also opposed section 21 and tabled some amendments in the Dáil to both of these sections that were ruled out of order. They were reasonable amendments to tackle the punishment clauses imposed in this Bill which are designed to teach unions a lesson. This will have a detrimental effect on the ability of unions representing key areas to negotiate on their behalf.

- Seanad: Order of Business (13 Dec 2017)
Rose Conway Walsh: I want to raise the issue of the hospital trolley crisis again. Up to November 2017, 82,459 people had been left on hospital trolleys. We are in danger of 2017 becoming the first year that the number of people on trolleys tops 100,000. It is important to remember that each one of these figures represents an individual with a family. I commend the approach of the homelessness campaign...

- Seanad: Order of Business (13 Dec 2017)
Rose Conway Walsh: There were 82,000 people on trolleys and the Government is trying to normalise that in the same way as it is trying to normalise homelessness.

Rose Conway Walsh: I want to bring to the attention of the Seanad a letter published in yesterday's edition of The Irish Postthat was signed by more than 200 members of civic nationalism. The letter expresses the frustration and abandonment felt by the nationalist community at the repeated failure by the British Government to implement all aspects of previous agreements. It is deeply worrying for the...

- Seanad: Order of Business (12 Dec 2017)
Rose Conway Walsh: There will be so many questions that I ask that the Leader at least makes the request about this.
- Seanad: Finance Bill 2017: Report and Final Stages (12 Dec 2017)
Rose Conway Walsh: I thank the Minister of State for wading through the budget on our behalf. This is a missed opportunity. The budget fails to address the inequality and unfairness that prevails across the country, whether in housing, health or other services on which people depend. The absence of a single line addressed to those who have been affected by pyrite and whose houses are crumbling around them is...
- Seanad: Public Service Pay and Pensions Bill 2017: Second Stage (12 Dec 2017)
Rose Conway Walsh: I thank the Minister of State for coming to the House today. I empathise with Senator Paddy Burke when he refers to political vulnerability, particularly when there are retired Mayo footballers coming onto the political pitch. However, I cannot concur with what was said around pensions and vulnerability in the context of some of our former taoisigh earning in excess of €20,000 for an...
