Michael Harty: I thank Dr. Ryan. While the meeting is still in public session, will members indicate whether they are satisfied with COM (2018) 51, which is the proposal for a regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on Health Technology Assessments amending Directive 2011/24/EU?

Michael Harty: In that case, there is another option. If we want to make a political contribution on matters other than subsidiarity and proportionality, we can agree that at the next meeting.

Michael Harty: Appropriation-in-aid is €460.2 million. When it is added to the Vote, the total allocation for the health budget for the year comes to €14.871 billion. I want to know the detail of that.

Michael Harty: I wish to respond before the Minister of State leaves that topic. Increasing the number of training places for GPs does not actually address the manpower issue. We are training GPs in order that they will emigrate because no young aspiring GP will sign the existing GP contract. Nobody who is recently qualified is signing a new GP contract.
