- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform, and Taoiseach: Tracker Mortgages: Central Bank of Ireland (18 Jan 2018)
Rose Conway Walsh: It has not increased for the regulated entities. The witnesses can see how it is confusing for people. People are interested in the banks that bunched up their loans and sold them off to what we would term "vulture funds". In many cases, people do not know who owns their loans and are in a very vulnerable position.

Rose Conway Walsh: Those stories will increase as the number of attempted repossessions increase. Is the Central Bank satisfied that there are no attempts to repossess the homes of people involved in the tracker mortgage debacle?
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform, and Taoiseach: Tracker Mortgages: Central Bank of Ireland (18 Jan 2018)
Rose Conway Walsh: It was said earlier that originators were responsible for tracker mortgages even when they were sold off. Why does that not happen across the board?
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform, and Taoiseach: Tracker Mortgages: Central Bank of Ireland (18 Jan 2018)
Rose Conway Walsh: Will there be any difference between how the current and former board members of banks will be treated? I am glad the Central Bank is reminding board members of their responsibilities to identify criminality. Many of those former members will have big pensions. Are they out of the system now?
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform, and Taoiseach: Tracker Mortgages: Central Bank of Ireland (18 Jan 2018)
Rose Conway Walsh: I cannot conclude without asking the witnesses whether they think the culture in the banks has changed. They will be familiar with the geography of Mayo, where there is often a 50-mile round trip to nearest bank, but I was alarmed to hear of a story over Christmas of someone who went to their own bank to take money out, only to be told they could not do so and would have to come back another...
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform, and Taoiseach: Tracker Mortgages: Central Bank of Ireland (18 Jan 2018)
Rose Conway Walsh: It may require further taxation or levies on banks to be given to local post offices and credit unions to support them for the services they give to communities which are otherwise excluded from financial services.

- Seanad: Order of Business (17 Jan 2018)
Rose Conway Walsh: I think we would have heard about that, a Leas-Chathaoirligh.
- Seanad: Order of Business (17 Jan 2018)
Rose Conway Walsh: I congratulate the Leader on his nuptials over the Christmas period. I also send the solidarity of the House to Joanne Hayes and her family. I acknowledge the absolute injustice and torture she suffered at the hands of the institutions. One can only come to the conclusion that there was absolute collusion between individuals working in those institutions to be complicit in her torture over...
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform, and Taoiseach: Tracker Mortgages: Discussion (16 Jan 2018)
Rose Conway Walsh: I thank the Minister for his presentation. I want to get back to the individual accountability aspect. Has the Minister checked with the Central Bank that there is no legislative impediment to holding individuals to account, even if they have retired and been paid bonuses and all of that?
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform, and Taoiseach: Tracker Mortgages: Discussion (16 Jan 2018)
Rose Conway Walsh: Therefore, we will not find ourselves in a situation in the future where we are being told we cannot do this because of something legislative. Has the Minister examined the Icelandic model where I believe 27 bankers were jailed? What are the variables in comparison with how we responded?
