Heather Humphreys: I propose to take Questions Nos. 173 to 175, inclusive, together. As previously advised, the works being carried out on the National Monument at 14-17 Moore Street are in line with the consent issued by the then Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht in 2014. These works, as has been publicly stated on a number of occasions, will return Nos. 14-17 Moore Street to their 1916...

Written Answers — Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht: National Parks and Wildlife Service (19 Jan 2016)

Heather Humphreys: The Irish Land Commission was dissolved in 1992 and I understand that its successor in law is the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine. In 1988, the then Irish Land Commission nominally transferred management of shooting rights to the Wildlife Service, which is now the National Parks and Wildlife Service, a constituent part of my Department. I am not aware of any specific...

Topical Issue Debate: National Monuments (14 Jan 2016)

Heather Humphreys: Deputy Costello is correct when he says that planning permission regarding Moore Street was given by An Bord Pleanála in 2010. The Deputies opposite should have objected at that stage. The shopping mall is a matter for Dublin City Council. I am responsible for the national monument at Nos. 14 to 17 Moore Street. Anything outside the national monument is a matter for Dublin City Council.

Topical Issue Debate: National Monuments (14 Jan 2016)

Heather Humphreys: The expert advice I have received is very clear. As I have outlined, Nos. 18 and 19 Moore Street were in ruins. None of the original fabric of the building at No. 13 is still present, as it was rebuilt in the 1940s. It has been clearly demonstrated that Nos. 14 to 17 are of historic importance.

Topical Issue Debate: National Monuments (14 Jan 2016)

Heather Humphreys: I have been inside those buildings.
