Tim O'Malley: I do not know the answer to the Senator's question. As I understand it, based on the pharmacy profession, which I know best, the responsibility of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland is to protect the public. I cannot speak about the other professions. However, the Senator is right.

Tim O'Malley: I am grateful for this opportunity to reply to the issues raised during the debate on this Private Members' motion. Senator O'Meara spoke briefly about patients from Limerick going to Nenagh hospital. The distance from Limerick to Nenagh is only approximately 20 miles.

Tim O'Malley: The road must have extended in the past few days. It was always approximately 23 miles from Limerick to Nenagh. Much of the Limerick area, such as Maroo, Castleconnel and Ahane, are approximately 12 or 15 miles from Nenagh.
