Paul Murphy: The Minister said it twice. I thought it was not an accident that he said it twice. The Minister first said: "We will measure ourselves going forward against carbon abatement objectives, alongside employment and productivity".

Paul Murphy: If you google carbon abatement, which is a central topic of discussion at COP28 at the moment, it has a very definite meaning, which is the reduction of the amount of carbon dioxide that is produced when coal and oil are burned.
