Enda Kenny: The previous Attorney General advised the Government at the time that a referendum was not necessary because of the minor nature of the change involved here in respect of Ireland. The current Attorney General is assessing that position. Our view is that a referendum is not necessary and the matter will be debated in the House in due course.
