Cormac Devlin: Of course, there is always a spin-off. NBI employs 300 and then there are the contractors Mr. Hendrick mentioned. He also referred to subcontractors and listed off a good few of them. Is he saying the remaining 900 are contractors?

(10 Feb 2022)

Cormac Devlin: All right. I just wanted to get a rough total of the number working on it. In his statement, Mr. Hendrick also mentioned NBI's co-operation and work with Eir and Enet. I commend him on his work for the islands. That is important. We are talking about rural Ireland and you cannot get much more remote than the islands. That work is essential because it will have benefits in terms of...

National Broadband Plan Expenditure and Related Matters
(10 Feb 2022)

Cormac Devlin: We receive a lot of complaints about the lack of connectivity or high-speed broadband. How do we liaise with NBI to highlight those black spots? As I have said, there are plenty of them.

Vote 29 - Environment, Climate and Communications
National Broadband Plan Expenditure and Related Matters
(10 Feb 2022)

Cormac Devlin: Will Mr. Hendrick come back to us with information on the programme for those particular types of premises? That is probably the bigger issue. As a representative of an urban area, the existence of black spots is a big issue. I hope that NBI is aware of them all but, in case it is not, there needs to be a way for Members to feed in for various different reasons. I am talking about the...

Vote 23 - Property Registration Authority (Revised)
Vote 34 - Housing, Local Government and Heritage (Revised)
(10 Feb 2022)

Cormac Devlin: I am grateful for the opportunity to speak. I am substituting for a committee member. I have a number of questions on Vote 34 specifically. Some are for the Minister and others for the Minister of State. I note a further €275.8 million in capital has been carried over from 2021. I am assuming that is related to an underspend caused by the pandemic. It is also noted that a little...

Ceisteanna - Questions: Cabinet Committees (8 Feb 2022)

Cormac Devlin: Workers have returned, and are returning, to offices across the country, with many now working on a hybrid basis. Some work some days in the office and others work remotely from locations either at home or within the local town or village. Ceisteanna - Questions: Cabinet Committees (8 Feb 2022)

Cormac Devlin: The Taoiseach will be aware of the significant impact that inflation is having on individuals and families across this country. The budget's increases in the fuel allowance were welcome, as are plans to give householders €113 credit against their electricity bills. However, these measures will only go so far. We know that inflation is likely to be higher than what was anticipated at...
