Róisín Shortall: Last week the NRA pointed out that land acquisition costs amount to 23% of the total roads budget. In this House, on several occasions over the past couple of years, the Taoiseach has promised to introduce legislation to allow the State to purchase land by CPO at use value. Is it still the Government's intention to do that and if so, when can we expect to see the legislation published?

Róisín Shortall: The Taoiseach has promised to deal with it, particularly in the context of the spiralling house prices. He has promised to legislate, on foot of a Bill brought forward three years ago by Deputy Gilmore and on foot of the recommendation of the All-Party Committee on the Constitution.
