- Short-term Lettings Enforcement Bill 2022: Second Stage [Private Members] (24 May 2022)
Seán Crowe: There were 14 rental properties on one rental website in Dublin 24 this morning. Three of them were basically sheds or granny flats in the bottom of someone's garden. However, many full properties sit on short-term letting sites, taken out of the rental market during a housing crisis and little more than profiteering. The housing market is a machine with many moving parts. That is the...
- Journalists in Conflicts across the World: Statements (24 May 2022)
Seán Crowe: As Deputy Kenny said, the murder of Shireen Abu Akleh as she covered an Israeli raid in the West Bank was a serious violation of international law and potentially a war crime. She was clearly identified as a journalist. She was wearing press insignia but she was targeted by sustained sniper fire, as Members have said. The attempt by the Israeli regime to muddy the waters and claim she had...

Seán Crowe: A number of members have indicated for a second round but I will use some of my own time for a change to discuss some of the issues that have not been addressed so far. - Joint Oireachtas Committee on Health: HSE National Service Plan 2022: Discussion (18 May 2022)
Seán Crowe: With regard to scoliosis, we had some very moving testimony from doctors who were in the service but also from families. They were talking about the backlog and the challenges they are facing. As I said, it was moving testimony about the agony that children are going through. There have been problems within the system itself. Have they been resolved?

- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Health: HSE National Service Plan 2022: Discussion (18 May 2022)
Seán Crowe: Another issue that came up is the waiting time for trying to get a hearing aid adjusted. I recently encountered the case of a child with Down's syndrome where it was not about getting a new hearing aid or getting tested, but just getting it adjusted, and they were talking about possibly waiting two years. Again, I am not bouncing this on anyone but there seems to be a problem with the system.

- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Health: HSE National Service Plan 2022: Discussion (18 May 2022)
Seán Crowe: With regard to long Covid, I know the HSE is trying to collate figures. The committee hopes to deal with the matter at some stage. I know there are some centres but, while one centre might be dealing with the lungs and heart, inflammation of the brain may be involved, which requires neurological services. People are saying that the current model is clearly not working for them. People may...

Seán Crowe: As the witnesses are probably aware, we have had a number of meetings regarding the national children's hospital. It has not come up here this morning but I imagine people at home are wondering what happens next. I know there were votes and so on but the Government has signed off on it. It will go to tender. Does the HSE have any sense of when that process will be completed?
