Tony McLoughlin: I am thrilled, like every right thinking person, to see the issue of the promissory note dealt with. The promissory notes will be exchanged for long-term Government bonds with an average maturity of 34 to 35 years as opposed to the notes' seven to eight year average maturity. This provides Ireland with a real opportunity to deal with a debt burden that was not sustainable.
