Martin Browne: That is a damning indictment. Every day in the Dáil Chamber we hear that we need people to build to increase the supply but if stupid red tape is putting people off building houses, we are never going to solve the housing problem.

Martin Browne: It is totally wrong that any individual or body should have to wait that long to get a reply. I do not know what you could call it but it is not professional. You could call it many things but it is not professional of any county council or Department to leave somebody hanging on that long without even replying.

Martin Browne: I echo that. A great deal of work goes on. People only see an hour and a half or two hours of a meeting here but a massive amount of working hours go into all the gathering of information and going through the correspondence that comes through, as well as replying to it.
