Mattie McGrath: I thank the Chair for the opportunity to contribute to this debate and empathise with the thousands of people who turned out to visit the Dáil yesterday. Prevailing conditions increased the likelihood of abuse in the years prior to and during the period covered by the Ryan report. Some of the causes of abuse still exist; that must change. Intervention at causal level is seriously needed....
