Danny Healy-Rae: I realised that in section 3-----

Select Committee on Health: Nursing Homes Support Scheme (Amendment) Bill 2021: Committee Stage (30 Jun 2021)

Danny Healy-Rae: We skipped amendment No. 2, which mentions: "that the relevant person declares by way of declaration". In other words, the amendment states that the-----

Select Committee on Health: Nursing Homes Support Scheme (Amendment) Bill 2021: Committee Stage (30 Jun 2021)

Danny Healy-Rae: There was an interruption and I was thrown off my line. Amendment No. 2 was seeking that the person in charge of the farm could legally lease it. If there was a young family and the woman or man of the house did not have the wherewithal to run the farm, this amendment sought that she or he would be allowed to lease it out. That is not allowed and that is unfair.

Select Committee on Health: Nursing Homes Support Scheme (Amendment) Bill 2021: Committee Stage (30 Jun 2021)

Danny Healy-Rae: I cannot understand where the charge is there. I appeal to the Minister of State to look at that.

Select Committee on Health: Nursing Homes Support Scheme (Amendment) Bill 2021: Committee Stage (30 Jun 2021)

Danny Healy-Rae: No.

Select Committee on Health: Nursing Homes Support Scheme (Amendment) Bill 2021: Committee Stage (30 Jun 2021)

Danny Healy-Rae: The amendment I proposed is one I have felt strongly about since I came up here in 2016. I do not believe it is fair that the family farm is taken into consideration as part of the application for the fair deal scheme. It is not fair on the person taking over the farm and trying to run the business. That asset is a tool for gaining an income for the family but it is taken into the...

Select Committee on Health: Nursing Homes Support Scheme (Amendment) Bill 2021: Committee Stage (30 Jun 2021)

Danny Healy-Rae: I listened to the Minister of State's reply on the cost of the fair deal scheme. This Bill is about ensuring the scheme is a fair deal for the farming and business community. I appreciate the cap and it is good that it has been brought forward. I also appreciate the Minister of State's point that it will still cost a great deal. I strongly support Deputy Naughten's request to include...

Affordable Homes in the Poolbeg Strategic Development Zone: Motion (29 Jun 2021)

Danny Healy-Rae: I am glad to get the opportunity to talk about affordable housing because it is a very serious problem. There are many young couples watching us this evening who are wondering if they will ever be able to put a roof over their heads. It is a natural desire for any couple or young person to put a roof over their heads and to own their home but it is becoming increasingly difficult because of...

Planning and Development (Amendment) (No. 3) Bill 2021: Second Stage (Resumed) (29 Jun 2021)

Danny Healy-Rae: I am glad to get the opportunity to speak to this very important Bill, which provides for an extension of two or more years for developments that may not have been completed and where coronavirus caused buildings to be held up. Certainly, we must ensure that there is an extension of at least two years. We have many problems in County Kerry with regard to planning and building houses....

Danny Healy-Rae: A Cheann Comhairle-----

An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business (29 Jun 2021)

Danny Healy-Rae: I call on the Government to ensure there is a debate to discuss why it is keeping the pubs in rural Ireland and rural Kerry closed indefinitely.

An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business (29 Jun 2021)

Danny Healy-Rae: Why is it doing that? What is it hiding? What has it against them?

An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business (29 Jun 2021)

Danny Healy-Rae: Come out and tell us. We want an open and honest debate about this.

An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business (29 Jun 2021)

Danny Healy-Rae: What the Government is doing is out of order; a Cheann Comhairle, totally out of order.

An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business (29 Jun 2021)

Danny Healy-Rae: There is no rhyme or reason. I want to know the reason.

Ceisteanna ó Cheannairí - Leaders' Questions (29 Jun 2021)

Danny Healy-Rae: The Government is making them.

Ceisteanna ó Cheannairí - Leaders' Questions (29 Jun 2021)

Danny Healy-Rae: We should get rid of the Government, too.

Ceisteanna ó Cheannairí - Leaders' Questions (29 Jun 2021)
