- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Disability Matters: Family-Centred Practice and Parent Training Interventions: Discussion (26 Jan 2023)
Pauline Tully: While we would love to talk more about this, unfortunately, we have to suspend the meeting to allow the HSE to come in. I thank all the witnesses, including Ms Kerrigan, Ms Tyner, Ms Ní Raghallaigh, Mr. Buttery and Mr. McSweeney, for joining us and sharing with us the very important work they do. We will be raising these issues with the HSE in the next part of the meeting and hopefully...

- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Disability Matters: Family-Centred Practice and Parent Training Interventions: Discussion (26 Jan 2023)
Pauline Tully: My first question is on the presentation this morning on family-centred practice and the briefing document the committee received. The content of the document mirrors what members heard from Triple P and Parents Plus. From talking to parents, it appears that many of them are not getting that sort of support. I hear of the CDNTs offering online courses on different issues but I hear from...
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Disability Matters: Family-Centred Practice and Parent Training Interventions: Discussion (26 Jan 2023)
Pauline Tully: The parents feel that the figures do not add up. One assumes that the majority of staff on a CDNT will be from the different disciplines such as occupational or physical therapy. I would like clarification on that.

- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Disability Matters: Family-Centred Practice and Parent Training Interventions: Discussion (26 Jan 2023)
Pauline Tully: Professor MacLachlan is making the claim that children do not need assessment of need but just need services. How you could decide what service they need without an assessment?
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Disability Matters: Family-Centred Practice and Parent Training Interventions: Discussion (26 Jan 2023)
Pauline Tully: We know people need a diagnosis to get into special school settings, which is causing significant problems. With Down's syndrome, they do not need a diagnosis. You know roughly what children would probably need but every child is different and would have to be assessed.

Pauline Tully: Yes.
- Ceisteanna ar Pholasaí nó ar Reachtaíocht - Questions on Policy or Legislation (25 Jan 2023)
Pauline Tully: I was contacted by a constituent who had applied for planning permission to build 25 houses in Cavan town. He made the application last January and it was approved by the council in July, but it was appealed by a third party to An Bord Pleanála. The board was due to make a decision on Monday, 12 December, but the man was told that day that the decision would be delayed by three months....

- Ceisteanna Eile - Other Questions: Disability Services (24 Jan 2023)
Pauline Tully: I thank the Minister. We do not have a definite date for the establishment of the medical board of appeal. I asked the Minister's predecessor, the current Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform, Deputy Donohoe, this question a number of times. I have also linked it to the proposed review of the disabled drivers and disabled passengers scheme because the criteria to apply for a primary...
- Ceisteanna Eile - Other Questions: Disability Services (24 Jan 2023)
Pauline Tully: I thank the Minister. People's rights are being infringed. The State ratified the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, UNCRPD, in 2018 and nearly five years later there is no transport scheme in place for disabled people. The disabled drivers and disabled passengers scheme is extremely limited and only applies to a small number of very disabled people. We...
- Forestry Sector: Motion [Private Members] (24 Jan 2023)
Pauline Tully: I welcome the motion and commend my party and constituency colleague, Deputy Carthy, on his work on this issue and on bringing this motion to the Dáil. The motion aims to put a halt to Coillte's proposed joint venture with Gresham House. I am dismayed by the Minister's answer that the deal has been done. This deal will see millions of euro in public funds used to subsidise the...

Pauline Tully: I broadly welcome the Bill, although there is a small number of issues that need to be addressed. I commend the Minister on bringing this forward. In terms of organ donation and transplantation, Ireland, according to the Global Observatory on Donation and Transplantation, GODT, currently ranks 28th in organ donation rates out of 72 countries worldwide. Rates of organ donation are 18 per...
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Autism: Autism Policy: Discussion (Resumed) (24 Jan 2023)
Pauline Tully: I wish a good morning to all our guests and thank them for coming here. I commend the work Inclusion Ireland does on inclusion and on advocating for people with intellectual disabilities. Ms McDonagh concentrated a lot on education. It is so important because if a child has a proper, appropriate and inclusive education, it will mean so much to him or her as he or she progresses through...
