Ceisteanna ó Cheannairí - Leaders' Questions (11 May 2022)

Michael McNamara: I return to an issue I previously raised with the Taoiseach, namely, the delays in completing apprenticeships. During the Covid response, the SOLAS block was postponed and delayed, which led to a huge backlog and waiting list for apprentices. The Taoiseach told me last September that there would be considerable Government investment, and I take it that there has been. SOLAS has confirmed...

Michael McNamara: I just want to go back to Mr. Lucas and the incident he described earlier in the week in Clare. Obviously, this person had not fallen a substantial distance down the cliff, but had they fallen over the edge of the cliff?

Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Irish Coast Guard: Discussion (11 May 2022)

Michael McNamara: I suppose the Cliffs of Moher are unique, or at least we would like to think they are. However, they are not unique in that there are other cliffs around the coast of Ireland. Are any of our guests aware of similar protocols anywhere else in Ireland?

Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Irish Coast Guard: Discussion (11 May 2022)

Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Irish Coast Guard: Discussion (11 May 2022)

Michael McNamara: Or a legal representative. For example, some of the unions get lawyers to attend WRC hearings. Could CUAG get a solicitor's firm, and counsel if necessary, to attend on behalf of a member?

Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Irish Coast Guard: Discussion (11 May 2022)

Michael McNamara: Then the Mulvey report has not been implemented. The next question I have is whether the recommendations with regard to the Doolin Coast Guard station have been implemented.

Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Irish Coast Guard: Discussion (11 May 2022)

Michael McNamara: And the others have not.

Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Irish Coast Guard: Discussion (11 May 2022)
