- Joint Standing Committee on the Irish Language, the Gaeltacht and the Islands: Seirbhísí trí Ghaeilge: Tusla (18 Dec 2018)
Catherine Connolly: Tá sé sin suimiúil mar beidh reachtaíocht nua againn, le cúnamh Dé, an bhliain seo chugainn maidir le Bille na dTeangacha Oifigiúla, agus tá sé i gceist sa phróiseas earcaíochta go mbeidh Gaeilge ag 20% de gach uile dhuine a earcófar dá bharr. Beidh an dualgas sin oraibhse cosúil le gach uile eagraíocht eile, nach mbeidh?
- Joint Standing Committee on the Irish Language, the Gaeltacht and the Islands: Seirbhísí trí Ghaeilge: Tusla (18 Dec 2018)

- Joint Standing Committee on the Irish Language, the Gaeltacht and the Islands: Seirbhísí trí Ghaeilge: Tusla (18 Dec 2018)
Catherine Connolly: Is maith an rud é sin a chloisteáil. Críochnóidh mé leis an bpointe seo. Is é croílár an réitigh go ndéanfar an Ghaeilge a normalú tríd an eagraíocht. Chuir mé ceist maidir leis na cúrsaí ach ní bhfuair mé freagra. Fuair mé freagra maidir le cigirí. Cé mhéad duine den fhoireann...
- Joint Standing Committee on the Irish Language, the Gaeltacht and the Islands: Seirbhísí trí Ghaeilge: Tusla (18 Dec 2018)
Catherine Connolly: Gabhaim buíochas leis an ngníomhaireacht. Tá Gaelchultúr ann agus tá obair na gcapall ar siúl ag an eagraíocht sin. Ba mhaith liom soiléiriú a fháil ón ngníomhaireacht le nóta a sheoladh chugainn, más féidir, tar éis an chruinnithe maidir le cé mhéad duine san fhoireann atá i mbun cúrsa...

Catherine Connolly: Gabhaim buíochas leis an ngníomhaireacht agus aontaím leis an Teachta Ó Snodaigh maidir le haon chabhair is féidir linn a thabhairt don ghníomhaireacht. Mar achoimre a dhéanamh, tá an ghníomhaireacht ag rá go mbeidh cigire breise ann le Gaeilge an bhliain seo chugainn, go mbeidh plean teanga agus suirbhé ó thaobh na foirne de, go...

Catherine Connolly: Gabhaim buíochas leis an Uasal Smyth, an Uasal Breen, an Uasal McDonnell, an Uasal Pathe agus leis an Uasal Kelly. Bhí sé deacair ach táim sásta gur tháinig siad os ár gcomhair, go raibh siad díreach, agus gur chuir siad béim ar na bearnaí atá ann. Faraor géar, tá siad ann ach ar a laghad tá siad admhaithe, agus nuair...

- Saincheisteanna Tráthúla - Topical Issue Debate: Autism Support Services (13 Dec 2018)
Catherine Connolly: The plan is there but there is just no money.
- Saincheisteanna Tráthúla - Topical Issue Debate: Autism Support Services (13 Dec 2018)
Catherine Connolly: I do not doubt the Minister of State's bona fidesbut I find his answer disappointing. We are going to a meeting tomorrow that came about as a result of a public meeting and serious pressure. The message from the health executives is that they have no money. We need a more positive message for a group on the ground that is saving the State money with the hours the partnership provides,...
- Saincheisteanna Tráthúla - Topical Issue Debate: Autism Support Services (13 Dec 2018)
Catherine Connolly: The Galway Autism Partnership is in danger of closure in the new year. We attended a very emotional but factual meeting at the end of November when the partnership pointed out that it is a charity with one full-time worker and two part-time workers. It is utterly reliant on voluntary workers. It provides community support in the form of camps and clubs to over 203 families. It serves...
- Local Government Bill 2018: Order for Report Stage (13 Dec 2018)
Catherine Connolly: On the same point of order, I tabled three amendments and the same answer has been given. In a short letter from the Ceann Comhairle the reasons given are that they have the potential to impose a charge on the Exchequer and are against the principle of the Bill. Clearly our amendments are against the principle of the Bill. We do not agree with the Bill as it relates to Galway. This type...
- Local Government Bill 2018: Order for Report Stage (13 Dec 2018)
Catherine Connolly: I do not understand the reasoning behind the explanation. None of this was said on Committee Stage even though it was discussed on that Stage. The Minister of State was present. If there were bona fides about local democracy, this would have been pointed out on Committee Stage. In fact, it will cost money to do this so none of it makes sense. What else were we to table? We are opposed...
- Local Government Bill 2018: Order for Report Stage (13 Dec 2018)
Catherine Connolly: With regard to the potential to impose a charge on the Exchequer, it has serious potential to saves charges on the Exchequer. We could easily argue from the other direction. This has come from nowhere. It leads me to seriously question the bona fides of the Government in this regard.
