Ceisteanna Eile - Other Questions: Public Transport (4 May 2023)

Thomas Gould: Will the Minister consider instructing the NTA to delay the closing date for submissions on the BusConnects Cork STC routes pending publication of the traffic data? The NTA plans will have serious consequences for businesses, workers, constituents, communities and people's lives. That is why the publication of the traffic data in advance of the closing date is essential.

Ceisteanna Eile - Other Questions: Public Transport (4 May 2023)

Thomas Gould: I support BusConnects. We need bus BusConnects in Cork, but we need it to be credible. The first round of consultation was done by the NTA without traffic data, which means the routes that were drawn up did not have the data to support them, which does not make sense. As we have all said here, we must be led by data and by science. Public transport interventions should be evidence-based....

Support for Household Energy Bills: Motion [Private Members] (3 May 2023)

Thomas Gould: It was announced last week that we now have the highest energy prices in Europe. Our cost of housing was found to be 88% higher than the EU average and prices across the board were 40% higher, but wages do not match up. Ireland's low-income earners earn far less than their European counterparts. One in five Irish homes are now behind in paying their gas bills. These people are terrified....

Construction Safety Licensing Bill 2023: Second Stage (3 May 2023)

Thomas Gould: If this Bill does as it promises, it will be a step forward. However, there is a real disconnect at the moment between SOLAS, ETBs, and the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science. This is causing issues with apprenticeships that do not need to be there. It is making it harder for apprentices to do the vital work they need to do, especially in house...

Ceisteanna ó Cheannairí - Leaders' Questions (27 Apr 2023)

Thomas Gould: The Ceann Comhairle said he would have the ability to do so. He did not answer the questions. That is all I said. The Ceann Comhairle said that and I said he did not answer.

Ceisteanna Eile - Other Questions: Environmental Schemes (27 Apr 2023)

Thomas Gould: The Minister said that the onus here is not to leave people behind but that is what is happening. I will give the Minister another couple of facts and figures. There are 176,000 social housing units in the State. Approximately 36,000 of them are at a B2 standard or higher. Another 36,000 are to be done by 2030. This means that roughly 100,000 social housing units are being left behind....

Ceisteanna Eile - Other Questions: Environmental Schemes (27 Apr 2023)

Ceisteanna Eile - Other Questions: Environmental Schemes (27 Apr 2023)

Thomas Gould: I ask the Minister if a person with stone-wall cladding can access an SEAI retrofitting grant; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Ceisteanna Eile - Other Questions: Environmental Schemes (27 Apr 2023)

Thomas Gould: I want to find out if there is a specific scheme to provide internal or external insulation for stone walls. I have been contacted by constituents who want to insulate their properties. Many of these properties are old and many of the people involved are older. We know the cost of heating these properties, given the cold and damp. People can put in all the windows and doors they want into...

Ceisteanna Eile - Other Questions: Illegal Dumping (27 Apr 2023)

Thomas Gould: A waiver should be in place for elderly people and people with disabilities.

Ceisteanna Eile - Other Questions: Illegal Dumping (27 Apr 2023)

Thomas Gould: I wish to point something out to the Minister of State. He provided funding for anti-dumping initiatives in 2022. Of the 13 projects in Cork city, only one was on the north side. The communities that got the funding were the ones that were most affluent and probably least in need of it, while the communities that were most in need did not get it. Perhaps they did not have the interest or...

Ceisteanna Eile - Other Questions: Illegal Dumping (27 Apr 2023)

Thomas Gould: Either everyone is treated equally, or they are not. That lies with the Minister of State.

Ceisteanna Eile - Other Questions: Illegal Dumping (27 Apr 2023)

Thomas Gould: Could the Minister of State say anything about the waiver?
