Joan Burton: The entitlement to child benefit of the daughter of the person concerned (the children’s mother) is currently under review, as advised in my reply to PQ Ref. No. 5030-13. Joan Burton: It is possible, subject to certain conditions, for a person to be absent from the state for the purpose of receiving medical treatment and retain eligibility to receive a social welfare payment. In order to be considered for this option, the Department must be notified in advance of the intention to leave the state and the purpose for which the absence is sought.
