Ceisteanna Eile - Other Questions: Road Signage (19 Sep 2018)

Mary Butler: I thank the Minister for his reply, which explains the problem. The road concerned is the N25, which is the main road from Waterford to Cork, which services traffic exiting from Rosslare Port. The traffic is naturally fast as the vehicles have just exited the motorway. The Minister has rightly said that the delineation was carried out in 2015. Unfortunately the delineation was very good in...

Ceisteanna Eile - Other Questions: Road Signage (19 Sep 2018)

Mary Butler: I will make representations to the TII. I reiterate that the main reason for the residents' concern is that other road exits, whether lanes or secondary roads, have markings and they cannot understand why their roadway should have no markings. Every time they indicate to turn right, they are very concerned that they will be rear ended because of the speed of traffic exiting the motorway.

Scoping Inquiry into the Cervical Check Screening Programme: Statements (19 Sep 2018)

Mary Butler: Fianna Fáil welcomes the final publication of the Scally report and urges the swift implementation of its 50 recommendations. Ceisteanna ar Reachtaíocht a Gealladh - Questions on Promised Legislation (20 Sep 2018)

Mary Butler: I reiterate my colleague's comments. Today, I received a reply to a parliamentary question on the number of people in Waterford and south Kilkenny waiting on home help packages. That number is 124. We are facing into winter, we are concerned about our older generation and the number of people on trolleys is a major issue. If home care packages are not in place to provide step-down...

Ceisteanna ar Reachtaíocht a Gealladh - Questions on Promised Legislation (25 Sep 2018)

Mary Butler: The programme for Government contains a clear commitment to improve the quality of life of older people. I understand that the Taoiseach was away on Government business for the last few days, so he might not be aware of media reports today that the Christmas bonus will not be paid to pensioners and social welfare recipients this year. Can the Taoiseach assure those who depend on this bonus...

Local Government (Restoration of Town Councils) Bill 2018: Second Stage [Private Members] (26 Sep 2018)

Mary Butler: This Bill reverses the Fine Gael-Labour Party decision to abolish town councils. It is ironic and paradoxical that the Labour Party, which was part of the Government that abolished town councils at that time, is now advocating their restoration.
