- Seanad: Matters Arising from the Withdrawal of the UK from the EU: Statements (29 Mar 2021)
Aisling Dolan: I welcome the Minister. It is wonderful to have the opportunity to speak in this debate. We are very fortunate to have in the Minister such a strong advocate for Ireland in the EU. Officials and staff in his Department have demonstrated clearly the negative impact on Ireland of the withdrawal of the UK from the EU, as evidenced by Ireland winning over €1 billion of a €5...

Aisling Dolan: I thank Ms Mannion, Ms McGrath and the other officials from the Department of Education, NEPS and the NESC for attending. I would like to congratulate principals and teaching staff for getting all of our students back to school yesterday. - Joint Oireachtas Committee on Education and Skills: Special Needs Education: Discussion (13 Apr 2021)
Aisling Dolan: I note to Ms Tansey that I acknowledge the importance of career guidance counsellors. I am on the Sub-Committee on Mental Health as well and they are crucial. My query to Ms McGrath was about whether SENO visits need to take place over the next couple of months. If the allocation remains the same from September, is it necessary, with public health guidelines etc., and could we reduce contact?

Aisling Dolan: I apologise for not knowing this. If it has been stated that there will be no reduction in the SNA allocation in September, is it necessary for these visits to take place?
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Education and Skills: Special Needs Education: Discussion (13 Apr 2021)
Aisling Dolan: Ms McGrath's statement, which she gave to us earlier, indicated that there would be no reduction in allocations from September. Am I incorrect about that?
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Children and Youth Affairs: General Scheme of a Certain Institutional Burials (Authorised Interventions) Bill: Discussion (14 Apr 2021)
Aisling Dolan: I wish to acknowledge the survivors who have come in to speak to us today. I have listened to those experiences. I know the Tuam area in particular as I come from Galway. I previously met Peter Mulryan. I would like to offer him some of the time allocated to me if he would like to contribute again. He has spoken very deeply about his mother and his sister and even the impact on his own...

Aisling Dolan: I welcome the Minister of State and I thank Senator Garvey for tabling a fantastic motion regarding our access to clean water and to sanitation. As she pointed out, this is a United Nations sustainable development goal. I support the motion, which is part of the programme for Government. It is important that we protect water from sea to source. I understand €8.5 billion has been...
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Education and Skills: Provision of Special Needs Education: Discussion (20 Apr 2021)
Aisling Dolan: I thank all our contributors today for the breadth of contributions from many different groups. I am based in Ballinasloe and from the Roscommon and Galway area so I am very much aware of the lack of capacity for children with special needs, particularly in Ballinasloe. It is an area very close to my heart as we try to fight for places for children in special schools and additional...
- Seanad: Nithe i dtosach suíonna - Commencement Matters: DEIS Scheme (26 Apr 2021)
Aisling Dolan: I thank the Minister of State, Deputy Madigan, for coming here this morning to deal with this matter. No schools have been assessed to be included for extra supports under the DEIS scheme since 2015 and only a small number were added in 2017. Schools are not currently being assessed. I would like an update on the DEIS resource allocation system and the timeline for its completion,...
- Seanad: Nithe i dtosach suíonna - Commencement Matters: DEIS Scheme (26 Apr 2021)
Aisling Dolan: I thank the Minister of State for the update and the acknowledgement of funding in the area. The DEIS identification process and the inclusion of schools with children who are at risk is urgently required to ensure that all schools are appropriately equipped to tackle educational disadvantage. We need that at primary and post-primary level across the country. Is there a possibility for...
- Seanad: An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business (26 Apr 2021)
Aisling Dolan: As co-founder, PRO and secretary of the community group, Ballinasloe says No, we have battled for more than four years against the inappropriate location of a waste transfer station in Ballinasloe town, fighting for the health and safety of families in the second largest town in County Galway, as well as the protection of the local environment. Despite that, and the fact that close to 3,000...
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Education and Skills: Apprenticeship Model Reform: Discussion (27 Apr 2021)
Aisling Dolan: That is absolutely fantastic. I was delighted to see the launch of the apprenticeship programme over the past few weeks. The target was increased to up to 10,000 a year. Mention has been made, including by Dr. Trant, of the broad range of apprenticeship programmes. There are 60 and this is to be expanded to include another 18. I really like the fact that the system is being opened to the...
