Seanad: Order of Business (20 Oct 2011)

Trevor Ó Clochartaigh: Other Senators were not interrupted when their contributions were protracted. From a tourism perspective, there is the Viking link. People in Norway have plenty money and it would be interesting to try to get more of them to come to this country to spend some of that money here. When the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade comes to the House, we could ask him another...

Seanad: Order of Business (20 Oct 2011)

Trevor Ó Clochartaigh: Tá sé an-tábhachtach go bhfreagrófaí an cheist seo. Tá an Rialtas seo ag leagaint síos riail amháin do dhuine amháin agus riail amháin do dhuine eile. I was at a French class this morning and one of the phrases we learned was plus ça change. This Government is doing exactly what it chastised the previous Government for doing - paying over the odds. It is not paying the carers...

Seanad: Order of Business (20 Oct 2011)

Trevor Ó Clochartaigh: Ba cheart sin a tharraingt siar agus ba cheart an tAire Howlin a thabhairt isteach sa Teach leis an cheist a fhreagairt faoi cén fáth go bhfuil siad in ann advisors a íoc ach go bhfuil siad ag gearradh siar i ngach áit eile.

Seanad: Order of Business (8 Nov 2011)

Trevor Ó Clochartaigh: Maraon le go leor daoine eile, ba mhaith liom tréaslú le mo chomhleacaí as Ghaillimh Thiar, Micheál D. Ó hUigín, fear a bhfuil aithne mhaith agam air agus ar a chlann. Guím gach uile rath air agus déanaim comhgairdeas leis as ucht an éacht atá déanta aige. Tá mé cinnte go ndéanfaidh sé sár jab. Is breá an rud freisin, go mbeidh an Ghaeilge i mbarr réime in Áras an...

Seanad: Order of Business (8 Nov 2011)

Trevor Ó Clochartaigh: I ask the Leader to invite the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport to come to the House. We need a task force or a working group to bring together all the stakeholders dealing with transport in Galway city to find some solutions. We need a bypass and proper public transport in order to get people moving through the city again.

Seanad: Forbairt Tionsclaíochta (8 Nov 2011)

Trevor Ó Clochartaigh: Gabhaim buíochas leis an Aire faoi theacht isteach. Tá a fhios agam go bhfuil sé gnóthach go leor. Baineann an ábhar atá á árdú agam le comhlacht, Arramara Teoranta. Ba mhaith liom beagáinín cúlra a thabhairt ar an gcomhlacht. Is comhlacht feamainne é Arramara Teoranta. Bunaíodh é mar chomhlacht Stáit thart ar 50 bliain ó shin. Tá sé ag feidhmiú thiar i gConamara....

Seanad: Forbairt Tionsclaíochta (8 Nov 2011)

Trevor Ó Clochartaigh: Go raibh míle maith ag an Aire as ucht freagra iomlán i nGaeilge a thabhairt. I maith uaidh é. Cuirim fáilte roimh an méid atá ráite ach bhéadh sé tábhachtach - agus b'fhéidir go gcuirfeadh an t-Aire é seo in iúl don Aire Stáit a bhfuil cúram na Gaeltachta air - go mbéadh plé le lucht bainte feamainne. Tá sé ar nós a bheith ag díol chomharchumann déiríochta atá ag...

Seanad: Order of Business (9 Nov 2011)

Trevor Ó Clochartaigh: Tá mé ag iarraidh ceist a ardú inniu a d'ardaigh mé inné agus brathaim nach raibh mé soiléir go léir san ábhar. I again raise the issue of traffic in Galway city. It is a crucial issue and perhaps it was not understood yesterday. I hope the Leader is not suffering from Dublin-centric thinking since becoming Leader. It is clear to all in the west that the traffic situation in...

Trevor Ó Clochartaigh: In previous debates such as this one we have been given eight minutes. Will the Leas-Chathaoirleach clarify the situation?

Seanad: Community and Voluntary Sector: Statements, Questions and Answers (9 Nov 2011)

Trevor Ó Clochartaigh: Does that mean we are limited to one minute?

Seanad: Community and Voluntary Sector: Statements, Questions and Answers (9 Nov 2011)

Trevor Ó Clochartaigh: I wish to voice our disappointment and dismay because we have a great deal to add to the debate.
