- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Autism: Autism Policy: Discussion (Resumed) (23 May 2023)
Marc Ó Cathasaigh: We could be proactively autism proofing. Something that comes up over and over again at the committee is that we do not have the diagnoses. We can assume the incidence rate as it is not down to external factors and we know it is genetic. We can presumably infer the incidence rate. Presumably we should be applying a lens. Has Mr. O'Regan had a chance to find my CHO figures?

- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Autism: Autism Policy: Discussion (Resumed) (23 May 2023)
Marc Ó Cathasaigh: I thank the Minister for her opening statement and for being with us. I welcome many of the improvements that have been made to the summer programme. It is an issue that this committee has spent a great deal of time on. I want to ask about the planning of special classes in particular. The 900 new special classes are very welcome and much needed. However, in terms of the planning of...

Marc Ó Cathasaigh: My question is whether we are seeing uniformity of provision or are some geographic areas being left behind. Do we have an analysis on that?
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Autism: Autism Policy: Discussion (Resumed) (23 May 2023)
Marc Ó Cathasaigh: With regard to the NCSE policy advice, the Minister said it was received in recent months. Can the Minister be a bit more specific about that? I also want to ask about the response. Presumably, the advice is being considered. Is that response going to be public, do we have a timeline for it and will there be a point at which that NCSE advice is made public?

- Public Accounts Committee: Appropriation Accounts 2021
Vote 24 – Justice (25 May 2023) Marc Ó Cathasaigh: This raises questions about the immigrant investor programme. I am glad the programme has concluded and has been wound up. In response to one of Deputy Dillon’s questions, it was stated that in 2022, there was a marked increase in applications, which rose to 1,316. The obvious question, particularly in terms of security concerns, is whether we have geographic information on where...

Vote 24 – Justice (25 May 2023) Marc Ó Cathasaigh: It would be interesting if the Department could furnish the committee with particulars for 2022. Clearly, a specific concern arose in 2022 that led to a response.

- Public Accounts Committee: Appropriation Accounts 2021
Vote 24 – Justice (25 May 2023) Marc Ó Cathasaigh: Yes, the figure of 950 is what I have in front of me but it is over 1,300. We had a watershed in February, when we announced the scheme's closure. How many arrived before that and how many after? Are any applications received after the closure of the scheme being considered? Have any been approved?
