- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Agriculture, Food and the Marine: Forestry Sector and Climate Action Plan: Discussion (9 Jul 2019)
Martin Kenny: I am not suggesting anything. I am simply asking who owns the carbon credits. If my land is sequestering carbon, who owns the credits which accrue from that? I expect it is the farmer.

- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Agriculture, Food and the Marine: Alleged Issue of Abuse of Greyhounds: Bord na gCon (9 Jul 2019)
Martin Kenny: I was in the Chamber for a debate on the Mercosur deal. I thank our guests for attending. Many of us were not especially surprised at some of the practices we saw in the greyhound industry because we have been hearing for a while that there were issues. I will go through some of the details. The issue may already have been dealt with but I want to ask about the number of dogs that are...
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Agriculture, Food and the Marine: Alleged Issue of Abuse of Greyhounds: Bord na gCon (9 Jul 2019)
Martin Kenny: I am sorry if I am being repetitive.
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Agriculture, Food and the Marine: Alleged Issue of Abuse of Greyhounds: Bord na gCon (9 Jul 2019)
Martin Kenny: How did RTÉ make the programme if everything is being done so well? There was an example on the programme of one breeder on whose premises a whole lot of illegal substances were found. He had won numerous races for years. If the greyhound board is doing such a good job, was it just one failing in one place and RTÉ was lucky enough to find it?
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Agriculture, Food and the Marine: Alleged Issue of Abuse of Greyhounds: Bord na gCon (9 Jul 2019)
Martin Kenny: Has Mr. Nyhan a response on the dogs in Pakistan?
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Agriculture, Food and the Marine: Alleged Issue of Abuse of Greyhounds: Irish Coursing Club (9 Jul 2019)
Martin Kenny: I thank Mr. Histon for his presentation. I return to the "RTÉ Investigates" programme. His referred to traceability and he said that the ICC "wants to put in place a better traceability system which will be linked on an all-island basis and also with the Greyhound Board of Great Britain". An issue that featured in the programme was dogs without ears, where they had been cut off the...
- EU-Mercosur Trade Agreement: Motion [Private Members] (10 Jul 2019)
Martin Kenny: It was clear to anyone who listened to last night's debate and question-and-answer session on this issue that the Government is determined to press ahead with the proposed deal. This is disappointing for the thousands of farmers who are protesting outside the gates of Leinster House today. They feel their livelihoods are under threat because the Government is working in co-operation with...

- Ceisteanna - Questions - Ceisteanna ar Sonraíodh Uain Dóibh - Priority Questions: CEDRA Remit (11 Jul 2019)
Martin Kenny: The question is around the targets that have been reached and the implementation of the Commission for the Economic Development of Rural Areas, CEDRA, report. There was considerable razzmatazz about the CEDRA report. Much of what is in the report is supported by everyone in the House and across the country because it sets out broad objectives on what needs to be done in rural Ireland. The...
- Ceisteanna - Questions - Ceisteanna ar Sonraíodh Uain Dóibh - Priority Questions: CEDRA Remit (11 Jul 2019)
Martin Kenny: I accept that the setting up of the Department was one of the key recommendations of the report. However, many of the other recommendations in the report have not been addressed to the level envisaged in the CEDRA report. This is evident when we look at the issues of housing and investment in rural Ireland. My colleague mentioned how many of the jobs outside of Dublin are only just outside...
- Ceisteanna - Questions - Ceisteanna ar Sonraíodh Uain Dóibh - Priority Questions: CEDRA Remit (11 Jul 2019)
Martin Kenny: The issue of housing is one of the key issues the Department can address. An agriculture scheme was brought out recently whereby a small amount of Government money was used to leverage a greater loan at a lower interest rate that people could access. One of the problems is that many of the people who own these properties cannot get a loan anywhere because they are already in debt for other...
- Ceisteanna - Questions - Ceisteanna ar Sonraíodh Uain Dóibh - Priority Questions: CEDRA Remit (11 Jul 2019)
Martin Kenny: I think the Department has a crucial role in this because it is a rural matter.
