Éamon Ó Cuív: I compliment the Minister on the 1916 Rising commemorative programme. While I was critical of it initially, since the commencement of the second iteration of the programme launched at Collins Barracks, it has been very successful, with all of the money provided having been well spent. On Friday we will be nine months through the year. With the budget due to be announced in less than a...

That is the nub of the issue. We are not asking for more money but rather that the Minister holds on to what she has. That is it.

The tradition has been that if somebody sues the State and the State supports defending the case, normally the money is made available whenever, and if ever, costs arise to deal with the issue. It is not usually taken from an ordinary budget. It is...
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Regional Development, Rural Affairs, Arts and the Gaeltacht: Estimates for Public Services 2016: Vote 33 - Department of Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs (28 Sep 2016)
Éamon Ó Cuív: There is no point in reiterating - more money, more money and we know the source. Hold on to what you have will be a constant theme.
