Frances Black: I agree with everybody about the national social inclusion office. It does a phenomenal job but it is stretched. Ms Windle mentioned earlier the cross-departmental working together piece and the difficulties when a worker is working with two Departments. Can she say a little more about the problems and why it takes so long? Why is it not quicker to get stuff done from a cross-departmental...

Frances Black: The witnesses have provided a wealth of information. I cannot thank them enough for coming in. In particular, I again thank them for the amazing work they do. It would be brilliant to see an integrated, cross-departmental approach going forward. That would probably work so well, not just in this area but in so many other areas as well. I thank all the witnesses from Mental Health Reform,...
- Seanad: An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business (8 Nov 2023)
Frances Black: Israel's cruel carpet bombing of Palestinian civilians in Gaza has captured the attention of the world. Israeli forces have killed twice as many Palestinian children in Gaza over the past month than the total number of Palestinian children killed in the West Bank and Gaza since 1967. Frances Black: I have a couple questions. An awful lot has been covered. I thank the witnesses for the amazing work they are doing. The work they do is mind-blowing. I wish to start by thanking them for what they do. I am aware the HSE’s social inclusion office does much work in this area. I heard a member of that office speak at a mental health reform event a few months ago and she was...
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on the Implementation of the Good Friday Agreement: Finance and Economics: Discussion (13 Jul 2023)
Frances Black: I thank the witnesses for coming in. It has been fascinating and we have all learned so much from listening to their statements and the responses to the questions. I have read the opening statements and I will ask my questions individually, if that is okay. I come first to Professor Doyle. My question is on the whole area of congestion in Dublin, which there is no doubt is horrific at...

Frances Black: A couple of months ago, I attended a presentation where people spoke about a high-speed train from Belfast to Dublin, which I thought was unbelievable. They said the trip would only take half an hour and there would be services on the half hour, allowing people to commute. It was an interesting idea.
