Dara Calleary: The Fianna Fáil Party agrees with the need to ensure the Defence Forces are fit for purpose. The new criteria appear to be the same as the criteria currently in place. Would it not be in everyone's interest to make this the base criterion rather than applying a rule that is no longer in use?

Are we precluded from doing this and is it something that should be looked at?
