- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Justice, Defence and Equality: Online Harassment and Harmful Communications: Discussion (2 Oct 2019)
Catherine Connolly: I understand that. We might come back to this. The submission from the legal profession makes a similar point. It argues that the focus should be on harm inflicted and that consideration should be given to defining harmful content. I have no problem with that.
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Justice, Defence and Equality: Online Harassment and Harmful Communications: Discussion (2 Oct 2019)
Catherine Connolly: It is a tricky area.
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Justice, Defence and Equality: Online Harassment and Harmful Communications: Discussion (2 Oct 2019)
Catherine Connolly: We need to come back to that. My last question concerns other models. New Zealand, Australia and Scotland have been cited in the other presentations. Has an Garda looked at that? Have its members visited those jurisdictions?

Catherine Connolly: Is anyone more familiar with the New Zealand regime? No. I refer to the calls for a digital safety commissioner. Is there a need for another office and another official?

- Development of a Liquefied Natural Gas Facility in Ireland: Statements (3 Oct 2019)
Catherine Connolly: Gabhaim buíochas don Teachta Bríd Smith as ucht an bhrú a chur sí ar an Dáil chun an t-ábhar seo a phlé. There is a danger here if the Minister listens with closed ears and thinks this is just the same old stuff from the Opposition on the radical left. It is a serious problem for democracy if that is the approach he is taking. I have repeatedly spoken...

- Public Accounts Committee: Business of Committee (3 Oct 2019)
Catherine Connolly: Much of what I wanted to say about the risk register has been said. I thank the Chairman for going through the correspondence in detail.
- Public Accounts Committee: Business of Committee (3 Oct 2019)
Catherine Connolly: It was very helpful, and I will reread it with a different eye. The risk register is what jumped out at me, again, as someone who is not experienced in this area. We rely on such registers. When I look at the accounts every single week I see the risk registers and what has turned up on them. However, the risk register is only as good as what goes on it, so perhaps somebody could help us...
- Public Accounts Committee: Business of Committee (3 Oct 2019)
Catherine Connolly: On that point, let us take the case of Galway. This is very much factual. It is another problem about which nothing was done, but the hospital was good in that it put the capacity of the hospital on the risk register. Then let us turn to the universities, not just NUI Maynooth. Knowledge was mentioned. I believe knowledge should be acquired through questioning. I disagree slightly with...
