- Seanad: Order of Business (15 Feb 2024)
Aisling Dolan: Yesterday, we received a public update from Saolta on developments within our hospitals. Roscommon University Hospital is really well known and renowned in our area for plastic and reconstructive surgery. At the moment, it is doing photo triage, whereby patient referrals can be made using photos of areas of concern, particularly in relation to skin cancer, which is a huge concern in the...
- Seanad: Social Welfare and Civil Law (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill 2023: Second Stage (Resumed) (13 Feb 2024)
Aisling Dolan: I welcome the Minister to the House. The point I take home is that when we look at the Pobal deprivation index, over and over again the group that are the most vulnerable is single mothers. That has been the case over and over again when one reviews any of the statistics and looks at the data. What the Minister is bringing forward in this Bill is going to make a considerable change. She...
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation: IDA Ireland: Chairperson Designate (21 Feb 2024)
Aisling Dolan: I welcome Mr. O'Rourke, the new chairperson of IDA Ireland. I am based in Ballinasloe, so I am a very close neighbour to him in Athlone. I represent Roscommon–Galway. We are going to have the twentieth anniversary of Jazz Pharmaceuticals. The Minister of State, Deputy Neal Richmond, will be coming down to visit us next Friday. He will be examining his remit in terms of local...

Aisling Dolan: Visualise.
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation: IDA Ireland: Chairperson Designate (21 Feb 2024)
Aisling Dolan: Mr. O'Rourke mentioned water infrastructure and wastewater treatment plants. When we look at developing our towns and trying to get housing, this is one of the major constraints we have. If you talk to anybody in IDA Ireland about this, he or she will say there is no housing available in an area for someone to rent or live in and we have pressure points on this. What is the role of the...
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation: IDA Ireland: Chairperson Designate (21 Feb 2024)
Aisling Dolan: I appreciate that he will have a regional focus, and it is important to understand the constraints for towns in regional areas that do not exist for our larger city centre friends. I expect that focus would be front and centre. I know it is not the only thing.
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation: IDA Ireland: Chairperson Designate (21 Feb 2024)
Aisling Dolan: It is part of everything else. We will not win investments in regional areas if we do not have this. We need to fight for this. I would see IDA Ireland saying that it wants to see more regional investment and asking why it is not happening. It is clear why it is not happening. I hope that is something that will be highlighted in Mr. O'Rourke's tenure.

- Seanad: Situation in the Middle East: Statements (Resumed) (20 Feb 2024)
Aisling Dolan: It is very clear that the Seanad is calling for a humanitarian ceasefire and for the unconditional release of hostages. The Minister of State is here and the Tánaiste spoke earlier. All the contributions we have heard have been shocking. It is hard to take in the scale of the absolute disaster unfolding before us. It is very clear that the funding for UNRWA is crucial. The...
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Agriculture, Food and the Marine: Compliance with the Nitrates Directive and Implications for Ireland: Discussion (Resumed) (28 Feb 2024)
Aisling Dolan: I thank the ICSA, ICOS and ACA for being here. I appreciate the water framework directive has been referenced in some of the opening statements. There are challenges particularly concerning Uisce Éireann. I would like to ask more about that. I know they have responded to a number of the contributors already. Senator Murphy has spoken about the water schemes we see across the...

- Seanad: International Women's Day: Statements (6 Mar 2024)
Aisling Dolan: I thank the Minister for attending to celebrate International Women’s Day. We are always delighted to welcome him to the Seanad, 40% of whose Members are women. We need to see the level of representation move upwards in the Dáil. As the Minister mentioned, we are supporting women in participating in public life, but there are many reasons women may not wish to get involved....
- Seanad: Private Rental Sector: Motion (6 Mar 2024)
Aisling Dolan: I am renting, and I have had to rent pretty much all my life. I have rented in Dublin and Galway. As a tenant, I have had the challenges, particularly in difficult times, of having to move many times and find accommodation. I am renting in Ballinasloe now. People have a choice. They obviously want to have a home and invest long term and, please God, that will happen for me too....
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Education and Skills: Allocations of Special Education Teachers: Discussion (5 Mar 2024)
Aisling Dolan: I thank the representatives from AsIam, Down Syndrome Ireland and Inclusion Ireland for being before the committee today. I know there is much frustration with regard to this new model. There has been a big impact in how hours are allocated. I have a few questions. I know my colleagues have gone through a great deal with the witnesses over the past few hours. I thank them for all the...
