Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: National Development Plan: Discussion (16 Feb 2021)

Kieran O'Donnell: It gave a commitment to do that. On a more personal matter, the mobile coverage on the Limerick to Dublin rail line has been very poor. I feel strongly about this but it is probably a housekeeping issue. I am a passionate believer in rail travel. I use it every single week. For me, it is the nicest and best form of travel. However, it is difficult to function if mobile coverage is...

Ceisteanna ar Reachtaíocht a Gealladh - Questions on Promised Legislation (18 Feb 2021)

Kieran O'Donnell: Will the national task force for vaccinations review the Limerick situation? We will have a very good facility in the Radisson but it is based in County Clare. The task force needs to look at the provision of another vaccination centre within the area of Limerick City and County Council. I note there is provision for a review and for additional capacity to be provided. I ask that the...

Kieran O'Donnell: I wish to speak on a similar matter.

Ceisteanna ar Reachtaíocht a Gealladh - Questions on Promised Legislation (18 Feb 2021)

Kieran O'Donnell: I agree with my colleague. I have raised this matter with the Ceann Comhairle. We need a process for the Order of Business whereby people have certainty in being able to function and being able to raise issues of the day. It is an issue I have raised previously and I support my colleague, Deputy Bruton.

Covid-19 (Enterprise, Trade and Employment): Statements (18 Feb 2021)

Kieran O'Donnell: I will use my time for a question and the Tánaiste might answer in the short time available. I have already flagged this issue to his office. It is about Rehab Enterprises in Limerick and concerns 37 jobs for people with disabilities, many of whom have been working there for many years. They receive supports through the wage subsidy scheme but they receive that over a long period, not...

Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Public Consultation on the National Development Plan: Department of Transport (23 Feb 2021)

Kieran O'Donnell: I note Mr. Spratt said the Minister was very anxious to come before the committee. I will very much hold him to that. It is extremely disappointing the Minister could not make it today. I note some other Ministers are attending meetings, so the message needs to go back to the Minister that we are in discussions through the clerk. We need him to appear before the committee for the review...

Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Public Consultation on the National Development Plan: Department of Transport (23 Feb 2021)

Kieran O'Donnell: With due respect, Mr. Spratt, the strategic framework for the investment in land transport in Ireland went out to public consultation prior to going to Cabinet. I feel Mr. Spratt is putting the cart before the horse. NIFTI should go out to public consultation. The process previously was that it went out to public consultation and then came back. Has a steering group been established for...

Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Public Consultation on the National Development Plan: Department of Transport (23 Feb 2021)

Kieran O'Donnell: That is very different from the process previously adopted for the strategic investment framework for land transport. It was a very democratic document which went out to the public which were allowed it to have their say. It went through due process. Has a steering group been established in respect of the current national investment framework for transport in Ireland document?
