Hospital Waiting Lists: Statements (9 Feb 2017)

Jan O'Sullivan: We in the Labour Party are extremely concerned that the public has been misled about the true extent of those waiting for procedures in hospitals throughout the country. Having seen the programme on RTE, we saw the real-life situation for so many people who are on waiting lists. There is a need for an independent review to determine whether any deception in the compilation of waiting lists...

Jan O'Sullivan: 271. To ask the Minister for Children and Youth Affairs the provision which will be made for child care services not currently under the registration remit of Tusla to access the new single affordable child care scheme, for example standalone afterschool services; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [6455/17]

Jan O'Sullivan: 43. [7016/17]

Ceisteanna - Questions (Resumed) - Priority Questions: Child and Family Agency Data (14 Feb 2017)

Jan O'Sullivan: Like other Deputies, I want to express my concern that, unfortunately, we cannot ask the questions we should be asking today. We need time to raise the issues, particularly from the perspective of spokespersons on children and youth affairs. The fact that incorrect information was in the system in An Garda Síochána long after it had become apparent that it was not true and that...

Ceisteanna - Questions (Resumed) - Priority Questions: Child and Family Agency Data (14 Feb 2017)

Jan O'Sullivan: I suspect that my next question is the one the Minister was just about to answer. The target figure was 60%, but what has actually been reached is 19%, which clearly is totally inadequate for the children who have had no social worker allocated to them, despite the fact they are at risk. Why is this the case? The Minister has just said extra funding was allocated, but I believe there is a...

Ceisteanna - Questions (Resumed) - Priority Questions: Child and Family Agency Data (14 Feb 2017)

Jan O'Sullivan: I will pursue the other issue I raised as to how a case is closed. Is there a sign-off? Is there a management system in place, whereby it is stated a case is closed and information on it should not be in any arena. The Minister obviously knows that I am speaking about Sergeant McCabe. There should be a system in place, whereby Tusla ticks boxes to state an issue has been fully dealt with.

Clarification of Statements made by the Taoiseach and Ministers: Statements (Resumed) (14 Feb 2017)

Jan O'Sullivan: If I may, I will repeat that question to the Taoiseach and perhaps he might answer it. Maurice and Lorraine McCabe wrote a long letter yesterday explaining that they wanted a public inquiry because of their experience of the previous inquiries that were private. That now, I presume, will be a decision of this House. They also set out six specific questions that they said could be answered...

Jan O'Sullivan: The Tánaiste has not answered my question.

Joint Oireachtas Committee on the Future Funding of Domestic Water Services: Role of Regulators and Compliance with European Law: Discussion (15 Feb 2017)

Jan O'Sullivan: He should be allowed to answer in the interests of fairness. We need to see a balanced response.

Joint Oireachtas Committee on the Future Funding of Domestic Water Services: Role of Regulators and Compliance with European Law: Discussion (15 Feb 2017)

Jan O'Sullivan: The answer-----

Joint Oireachtas Committee on the Future Funding of Domestic Water Services: Role of Regulators and Compliance with European Law: Discussion (15 Feb 2017)

Jan O'Sullivan: I am next on the list. I thank the delegation for attending the meeting. Mr. Aurel Ciobanu-Dordea said he is available to the committee for further consultation should we have any further questions later. If he is willing, I suggest that, when we get to the point where we may have a draft proposal, we can ask Mr. Aurel Ciobanu-Dordea some questions at that stage. If there are fines,...

Joint Oireachtas Committee on the Future Funding of Domestic Water Services: Role of Regulators and Compliance with European Law: Discussion (15 Feb 2017)

Jan O'Sullivan: Would it be Mr. Ciobanu-Dordea's view that the general taxpayer should not pay for excessive use of water? If the proposal is that it is all paid for out of general taxation-----
