Michael McDowell: -----and commit itself to an evacuation of the illegally occupied territories. Those are the minimum aims. I do not say this has to be done tomorrow but those are the minimum aims of establishing peace in the Middle East. Therefore, no matter how complicated our position is by virtue of our membership of the European Union and no matter how ineffectual the passage of this Bill may be...

Michael McDowell: I assure the Minister of my complete support for this legislation and assure him that my customary co-operation with its passage will be repeated here today. It is a perfectly reasonable, necessary and intelligent piece of legislation that I strongly support. I have two queries for the Minister. Perhaps my passing acquaintance with the law relating to intoxicating liquor explains why I am...

Michael McDowell: May I speak now?

Seanad: Intoxicating Liquor (Breweries and Distilleries) Bill 2016: Second Stage (Resumed) (11 Jul 2018)

Michael McDowell: Briefly, I am concerned about the phrase, notwithstanding anything contained in those Acts, that it should be lawful to sell alcohol to a person who has completed a tour. Seanad: Intoxicating Liquor (Breweries and Distilleries) Bill 2016: Committee and Remaining Stages (11 Jul 2018)

Seanad: Judicial Appointments Commission Bill 2017: Committee Stage (Resumed) (11 Jul 2018)

Michael McDowell: I thought I had made the point, and that I had made it sufficiently often and at length to convey my opinion, that the provisions of section 15, insofar as they purport to exclude the chair being taken on any occasion or at any committee of the commission by somebody who has legal experience, is unnecessary and vindictive. I will not put the matter any further.

Seanad: Judicial Appointments Commission Bill 2017: Committee Stage (Resumed) (11 Jul 2018)
