- Ceisteanna Eile - Other Questions: Foreign Conflicts (27 Feb 2019)
Catherine Connolly: The Tánaiste accused my colleague, Deputy Maureen O'Sullivan, of not being interested in humanitarian aid. He probably did not mean that.
- Ceisteanna Eile - Other Questions: Foreign Conflicts (27 Feb 2019)
Catherine Connolly: The Tánaiste did. He said she had no interest in humanitarian aid. My specific question was on the statement made by the UN rapporteur who was appointed, who said in January: Coercion, whether military or economic, must never be used to seek a change in government in a sovereign state. The use of sanctions by outside powers to overthrow an elected government is in violation of all...
- Withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union (Consequential Provisions) Bill 2019: Second Stage (Resumed) (27 Feb 2019)
Catherine Connolly: Go ginearálta, cuirim fáilte roimh an mBille seo, in ainneoin go bhfuil sé beagáinín déanach, i gcodarsnacht leis na tíortha eile ar fud na hEorpa a chuir reachtaíocht trí na parlaimintí éagsúla atá acu i bhfad roimhe seo. Is rudaí praiticiúla den chuid is mó atá sa Bhille de réir mar a fheicim ach...

- Public Accounts Committee: Business of Committee (28 Feb 2019)
Catherine Connolly: I support that. It is difficult to tease out where we are going with it. The processes were working in a sense. Somebody was alerting somebody higher up that there were questions. That is my understanding.
- Public Accounts Committee: Business of Committee (28 Feb 2019)
Catherine Connolly: Again, we cannot see those processes. The memorandum is part of a process. Somebody is concerned and is theoretically doing the right thing. The person notices something is wrong and wants it checked out. The person alerts somebody with higher authority so everything was being done correctly, theoretically.

- Public Accounts Committee: Business of Committee (28 Feb 2019)
Catherine Connolly: What is the reference number for that correspondence?
- Public Accounts Committee: Business of Committee (28 Feb 2019)
Catherine Connolly: On that, there was something I raised and about which I was to come back to the Chairman. He left the issue open and I thank him for that. It relates to medical negligence and to the prior step where independent inquiries are carried out. I have gone back to check on this and I was to come back to the Chairman about it. I have asked a very straight question regarding Galway. Over a...
- Public Accounts Committee: Business of Committee (28 Feb 2019)
Catherine Connolly: I am left with my mouth open. I went back twice and in two different ways. I then went to the Minister to ask him whether he was happy with this situation. I will now refer that question and those two answers to the committee. Before we get to medical negligence, things inevitably happen because we are only human. One learns from that and one should set up an investigation, whether...

- Public Accounts Committee: Business of Committee (28 Feb 2019)
Catherine Connolly: How can that be true if it does not even have a record of the number of investigations that have been carried out?
- Public Accounts Committee: Business of Committee (28 Feb 2019)
Catherine Connolly: I welcome that. On a separate issue and just to keep track, we got a letter from a doctor with which we did not deal.
