In relation to the earlier question on improving the regulatory and supervisory arrangements, ensuring that consumer issues that are presently dealt with by the Financial Regulator are dealt with will, of course, be outlined by the Minister, Deputy Brian Lenihan, when he brings the legislation to the House.

Brian Cowen: As I said, the consumer and competition Bill is later this year. Discussion can take place on Second Stage, including I am sure a contribution from the Deputy, as to the adequacy of the new arrangements and how it has been able to protect consumer interests. The Financial Regulator had a remit and built up a reasonably good reputation in that area in terms of consumer protection.
