Seanad: Order of Business (29 Nov 2016)

Jerry Buttimer: It is something we need to debate. It is important that we educate young people in their civic duty and in their responsibility before they vote, as they vote and after they vote. Senator Mulherin raised the...

Seanad: Planning and Development (Housing) and Residential Tenancies Bill 2016: Report and Final Stages (29 Nov 2016)

Jerry Buttimer: In the context of the previous speaker's comments I believe the amendment goes a step towards what we are all trying to achieve. Senator Burke is correct. If we look at the current modus operandi under which we now operate as Oireachtas representatives in engaging with city or county councils, in many cases it is merely going through the motions. The level of dialogue or information to...

Seanad: Order of Business (30 Nov 2016)

Jerry Buttimer: The Senator is incorrect. He is embarrassed by it and I understand why.
