Seanad: State Airports Bill 2004: Second Stage. (13 Jul 2004)

David Norris: I am grateful to my colleague, Senator Quinn, for allowing me to share his time. I listened to him with great interest because he is one of the most successful business people in this State. Seanad: State Airports Bill 2004: Second Stage. (13 Jul 2004)

David Norris: The Government obviously believes it needs that type of solidarity behind it. That is fair enough; it is a political decision. The Minister's reference several times, in his script and in his obiter dicta, to the leaking of a letter being designed to create an erroneous impression goes to motive. If the Minister knows the motive, that suggests he has a fair clue as to its source. I would be...

Seanad: State Airports Bill 2004: Second Stage. (13 Jul 2004)

David Norris: We need a new airport. We not only need a second terminal at Dublin Airport, we badly need a terminal designed for the 21st century. If this legislation can deliver that, it will be a good day's work. However, I do not believe that is its aim and in that regard I have the same reservations as Senator Quinn. I look forward to hearing some of the contributions from the other side.

Seanad: Order of Business. (14 Jul 2004)

Seanad: Order of Business. (14 Jul 2004)

David Norris: As the seconder of the motion I believe there should be a debate because we should have the opportunity to support it. In the context of the mean-minded attitude we took as an Irish people in the recent referendum we want to keep other people out and be as restrictive as possible, and at the same time we want special provisions for our own people.

Seanad: Order of Business. (14 Jul 2004)

David Norris: That is shameful and we should have an opportunity to make that point.

Seanad: Order of Business. (6 Oct 2004)

David Norris: The Senator should watch it.

Seanad: Order of Business. (6 Oct 2004)

David Norris: This is the first opportunity I have had to welcome Ms Jody Blake back to the House. I am delighted to see her in full health and back with us. I agree with the leader of Fine Gael, Senator Brian Hayes, in the expression of his concern about the seriousness of subversive groups gathering information about the movements of Members of the Oireachtas. In the past, this has always had very...
