Fergus O'Dowd: Only the penalties have changed. One cannot drink and drive, full stop. There were seven or eight people killed in both Louth and Kerry two years ago. That is the number of lives that are saved by the new legislation.

We have been sitting since 9.30 a.m. and I have no problem with staying here for as long as it takes. The Estimates meeting is fixed for 6 March. I propose that, with the committee's consent, we request that the Minister deal with this issue on that date.
