- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Agriculture, Food and the Marine: Horse Welfare Concerns and Compliance with Legislation: County and City Management Association (1 May 2024)
Johnny Mythen: Most of the questions have been asked. Will Mr. Condon give an individual example of what it would cost if, tomorrow morning, the council has to round up a stray horse, bring it in, impound it, it is not claimed and the council has to keep it, and whatever happens to it after that? What would the full cost of that be?

- Affordable Housing: Motion [Private Members] (8 May 2024)
Johnny Mythen: I commend Deputy Ó Broin and the rest of my party on allowing me the parliamentary time to debate this important motion on affordable housing. We know the cost-rental and affordable purchase targets were missed by 60% last year. In fact, no affordable homes were built in my home county of Wexford. Time and again, we have seen young people's hopes dashed against the backdrop of...

Johnny Mythen: Yes, please.
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Agriculture, Food and the Marine: Recycling Farm Plastics: Discussion (Resumed) (15 May 2024)
Johnny Mythen: That is basically okay. We know that farmers are paying on the double. It seems to me that there are between 40,000 tonnes and 50,000 tonnes of plastic out there. One company is saying that the five locations are compliant, but I think that should be looked into in depth. An independent inspection should be carried out on that issue.

- Ceisteanna ar Pholasaí nó ar Reachtaíocht - Questions on Policy or Legislation (16 May 2024)
Johnny Mythen: I wish to raise the issue of a local community organisation that deals with suicide ideation, addictions and mental health. It is called It's Good 2 Talk. It provides high-quality service and is responsible and accountable for its work. I have it on good authority it recently applied to the HSE for funding to the tune of €40,000 but was flatly refused. Over a three-year period...

Johnny Mythen: I thank Deputy Ó Broin for his momentous work on forming Sinn Féin's housing policy and bringing the motion to the Dáil. I have to say the Government's response to the breaking news this morning on part of the Housing Commission's report is bewildering. All Opposition parties have been saying for years that there is a national emergency housing crisis in this country. Sinn...
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Agriculture, Food and the Marine: Scrutiny of EU Legislative Proposals (22 May 2024)
Johnny Mythen: I have a few questions. I am not sure whether the witnesses can answer this one. Regarding the briefing we got on the discussion at EU level, it just said that Germany abstained. Do the representatives from the Department of agriculture know why it abstained? On the next steps, I wonder why the Department may have a public consultation, as opposed to simply having a public consultation.
