David Stanton: My time is limited. We have had quite a lot of legislation in this committee since it was set up and the Chairman has been working members very hard. We have not been idle. We need to take up this issue. The documentation from the Department in the request for submissions states, "Section 50 of the Pensions Act 1990 provides that the Pensions Authority may make a direction to reduce...

- Select Committee on Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation: Screening of Third Country Transactions Bill 2022: Committee Stage (25 Jan 2023)
David Stanton: Section 8(2) refers to the company having to be an existing company within the meaning of the Act. Does that mean the company has to be registered in Ireland if it is to be served with documents and so on? Do they have to be registered and have an office here? If third country companies are coming in, doing something hostile and dangerous and are not registered here, where does that leave us?
- Select Committee on Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation: Screening of Third Country Transactions Bill 2022: Committee Stage (25 Jan 2023)
David Stanton: Can the Minister of State give us an example of the kind of hostile act he has in mind with respect to this section? Does he even have a hypothetical example as to what might happen?
- Select Committee on Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation: Screening of Third Country Transactions Bill 2022: Committee Stage (25 Jan 2023)
David Stanton: Could transactions already have been taking place here that have slipped through the net, given that we are very late to the party with this legislation? Could there already be activities out there that could be impacting in a negative way on State security, as the Minister of State has outlined? Does this legislation in any way give us any way of dealing with that kid of thing?

- Ceisteanna Eile - Other Questions: Special Educational Needs (2 Feb 2023)
David Stanton: The Minister of State knows well, as she has visited east Cork quite often, that we have no special school at all. As Deputy O'Sullivan has said, children have to travel long distances if they can get a place. East Cork is as big as some small counties but there is no special school. I note the need for special classes and all that but special schools are a set apart. Would the Minister...
- Ceisteanna ar Pholasaí nó ar Reachtaíocht - Questions on Policy or Legislation (2 Feb 2023)
David Stanton: I raise an issue I raised with the Tánaiste before Christmas. The old Amgen site in Carrigtwohill is still sitting there 13 years later. It comprises 188 acres of fully serviced land. IDA Ireland has tried to market the site but because the road infrastructure is so poor, it cannot get anyone to go in there. What is the Government doing to unlock the site and what are its plans and...
