Questions on Promised Legislation (5 Jul 2017)

Michael Healy-Rae: On the same subject-----

Questions on Promised Legislation (5 Jul 2017)

Michael Healy-Rae: No. It is the same subject. There was a good system in place previously for those who were terminally ill who had medical cards. Unfortunately, in recent times that system has been failing. When a person has been diagnosed with a terminal illness, within 24 hours of a doctor declaring that it is a terminal illness that person should be issued with a medical card no questions asked.

Questions on Promised Legislation (5 Jul 2017)

Michael Healy-Rae: It is part of this.

Questions on Promised Legislation (5 Jul 2017)

Michael Healy-Rae: This is terribly important. I ask the Taoiseach respectfully, as a former Minister for Health who understands the enormity of this situation on a family, that when a person is diagnosed with a terminal illness, he or she should be granted a medical card immediately upon a medical practitioner signing off on that terminal illness.

Early Childhood Care and Education: Motion (Resumed) [Private Members] (5 Jul 2017)

Michael Healy-Rae: I am sharing time with Deputy Mattie McGrath. I thank Sinn Féin for bringing forward this Private Members' motion on the important issue of child care provision and costs. As rightly highlighted, issues such as pay, public and private service provision and the cost of child care have up until now been brushed under the table, particularly by the previous Government. The people...

Rugby World Cup 2023 Bill 2017: Second Stage (5 Jul 2017)

Michael Healy-Rae: I cannot stress enough how much I support the Bill. For Ireland to be successful in its bid for the 2023 World Cup, this Bill is of extreme importance. Ireland can only benefit in every aspect if the bid is successful. The man or woman selling hats, scarfs or head bands, the chip vans operating on the day of a game, the hotels, the bed and breakfasts, the bars, the shops and our tourist...

Rugby World Cup 2023 Bill 2017: Second Stage (5 Jul 2017)

Michael Healy-Rae: It is clear he has not read the reports from the IRFU chief executive in respect of the purpose for which the money is required? The €120 million to be paid to World Rugby if the bid is successful will ensure that taxpayers will not be left paying for this event. Does Deputy Eamon Ryan think that if the Rugby World Cup comes to Ireland, nobody will attend the games and taxpayers will...

Joint Oireachtas Committee on European Union Affairs: European Agenda Developments: Minister of State at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (5 Jul 2017)

Today, we will engage with the new Minister of State at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade with responsibility for European Union affairs, Deputy Helen McEntee. Last week, in her absence, members and I congratulated her...
