Noel Rock: Was the board meeting held by telephone or in person?

Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Engagement with the Football Association of Ireland (10 Apr 2019)

Noel Rock: I have one final question. When was the PDF of the full report, which the FAI sent us, received? I refer to the same document that was presented to the board and accepted.

Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Engagement with the Football Association of Ireland (10 Apr 2019)

Noel Rock: It is interesting because the data on the document are from the next day. It states that the document was created at 5.10 p.m. on the following day, the Saturday, during the match between Ireland and Gibraltar. This all seems quite peculiar and warrants a further line of questioning with regard to the creation of the report. However, I will pass over to Senator O'Mahony.

Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Engagement with the Football Association of Ireland (10 Apr 2019)

Noel Rock: I do not believe I got an answer to my question on an active tax clearance certificate but perhaps Mr. Conway will come back to it. All bodies in receipt of State funding should have one. Were all returned, paid in full, by the relevant date? I imagine that is one of Mr. Conway's five questions.

Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Governance and Funding of Football Association of Ireland: Discussion (16 Apr 2019)

Noel Rock: To add to what Deputy Catherine Murphy said, I do not believe that any sporting organisation should be a personal fiefdom. Based on what we see and what we know, does the Minister, Deputy Ross, have an understanding as to whether the FAI has accepted Mr. Delaney's offer to step aside? The FAI's statements on this matter have caused some confusion.

Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Governance and Funding of Football Association of Ireland: Discussion (16 Apr 2019)

Noel Rock: Given that he met with the FAI yesterday evening, does Mr. Treacy know the situation?

Noel Rock: To clarify, Mr. Delaney's offer to step aside has been accepted by the FAI.

Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Governance and Funding of Football Association of Ireland: Discussion (16 Apr 2019)

Noel Rock: We have received many statements, some of which contradict others. This one was particularly unclear, and as far as I was aware the media were refused answers on that questions last night. I just want to put that on the record. The statement of the Minister, Deputy Ross, and the letter from the FAI both say that the board of the FAI is stepping down. Is this a part of the normal course...

Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Governance and Funding of Football Association of Ireland: Discussion (16 Apr 2019)

Noel Rock: It is interesting that in the written version of the Minister's opening statement there are inverted commas around the word "independent" when it is used in the context of the reviews being undertaken. Why is that? Does the Minister not believe they were truly independent reviews?

Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Governance and Funding of Football Association of Ireland: Discussion (16 Apr 2019)

Noel Rock: Nothing else appears in inverted commas.

Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Governance and Funding of Football Association of Ireland: Discussion (16 Apr 2019)

Noel Rock: The Minister cannot say why that word was in inverted commas.

Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Governance and Funding of Football Association of Ireland: Discussion (16 Apr 2019)

Noel Rock: The other words are not treated as such, but we will park that issue.

Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Governance and Funding of Football Association of Ireland: Discussion (16 Apr 2019)

Noel Rock: How did those reviews interact exactly? Will the Office of the Director of Corporate Enforcement conduct a separate parallel inquiry or will it now dovetail with the Mazars inquiry?

Noel Rock: Of course.
