National Asset Management Agency Bill 2009: Report Stage (Resumed). (4 Nov 2009)

Brian Lenihan Jnr: I hope we can reach an all-party agreement on it. I believe we will. It is important that we establish one. I do not believe it is desirable to entrench it in legislation. In this case, the statutory authority will give quarterly reports and an Oireachtas committee will be dedicated exclusively...

National Asset Management Agency Bill 2009: Report Stage (Resumed). (4 Nov 2009)

Brian Lenihan Jnr: We have laid down in the Bill a great deal of the matter which the quarterly report must contain. Due to the concern expressed by Deputy Joan Burton on the issue of the bonds, I drew to her attention the European arrangement. I have the undertaking of the regulator to work with such a committee as well. It is not the regulator but a person designated by the regulator as he could not take a...
