United Kingdom Import Controls: Statements (25 Jan 2024)

Louise O'Reilly: The prospective changes on the way will most definitely pose significant challenges to Irish farmers and to the agrifood sector in general. The sector is one of the most important to our State and is especially important among indigenous and exporting SMEs. As a small, open economy, exports are the driving force. As it stands, only 6% of our SMEs export and most of these export to the...

International Court of Justice and Genocide in Gaza: Motion [Private Members] (30 Jan 2024)

Louise O'Reilly: I thank my colleague, Teachta Matt Carthy, for bringing forward the motion and for his work on this matter on behalf of the Palestinian people. Last Friday's judgment from the ICJ was a huge event in this war. I apologise in advance that I have to go to another meeting, so I will not be able to stay for the entirety of the meeting. Select Committee on Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation: Estimates for Public Services 2024
Vote 32 - Enterprise, Trade and Employment (Revised)
(31 Jan 2024)

Louise O'Reilly: It is 6% at present. Has the Minister a target in mind for between now and 2030. It is 2,000 companies but, in percentage terms, only 6% of them export at present. That is low. They themselves would acknowledge that. The Minister stated it is an area that needs a bit of work. I have said that as well. While we are agreeing, let us kick on.
