Public Accounts Committee: Draft Report on Visit to Vietnam (2 Apr 2015)

John McGuinness: I welcome the report. I will ask the clerk to change the foreword to reflect the fact that Deputy Deasy and others contributed in the way they did. I ask that we do some form of press presentation. We can send out a press release and flag the success of the delegation and what has transpired since it returned. In light of the fact we give €12.25 million in aid, it is important for...

Public Accounts Committee: Draft Report on Visit to Vietnam (2 Apr 2015)

John McGuinness: The Dáil does not sit next week. The HSE will be here the week after. When we look at Bytel, it will be a limited hearing and perhaps we could have another agency or Department in to bring the work programme into line. We can then arrange that visit for when the Dáil resumes. We agreed to that at the beginning. We have agreed the report.

John McGuinness: 79. To ask the Minister for Social Protection if the weekly means of a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny will be re-examined as the person claims the incorrect figures are being used and differ from those in the P45 and P60 submitted; and if that person's overall claim will be reviewed as the reduction in benefit is causing them hardship. Public Accounts Committee: Business of Committee (16 Apr 2015)

John McGuinness: The clerk informs me that the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform has said that the meeting has been arranged. I want to express some concern about that. At that meeting it was stated quite clearly that we wanted the meeting to be held as soon as possible. It was also asked that the members here be informed of that meeting. From the papers I have received to date, I received no...

Public Accounts Committee: Business of Committee (16 Apr 2015)

John McGuinness: I do not think it is okay, actually. That meeting was agreed. It is typical of Departments, when they come before us, to say they will do something and then go away and not do it. It is simply unacceptable, when one is dealing with people who are in business and who take risks every day to help the economy through their taxes and everything else, that they are ignored like this. I find it...
