Aisling Dolan: I welcome the Minister of State at the Department of Health, Deputy Mary Butler. I am sharing this Commencement matter with Senator Eugene Murphy. We met with Annette, Cathy, Martina and Nora. These are all people who work in Portiuncula University Hospital in Ballinasloe. These are people who were on the front line all during the pandemic. They were our hospital warriors in the face of...

Seanad: Nithe i dtosach suíonna - Commencement Matters: Covid-19 Pandemic Supports (8 Nov 2022)

Aisling Dolan: The Minister of State's written response notes that packs have now been issued to 750 relevant organisations, including agency organisations. The agencies I am concerned with, particularly around the sale to the university hospital healthcare group, which includes Portiuncula and other hospitals, are Aramark catering and Noonan cleaning services. That would include the security porters.

Seanad: Housing for All: Statements (Resumed) (8 Nov 2022)

Aisling Dolan: I thank the Minister of State for coming before the House. It is very good to see the progress being made. In the area in which I live, I see progress on the ground. I see houses being built. There are 40 local authority housing units being built at a turnkey development. Galway County Council took that project on. I live in an area where there is a huge demand for housing and for...

Aisling Dolan: I thank all the guests from all the institutions who have come in to show that mental health is so crucial. It is fantastic. I am on the mental health committee, which is a subcommittee of the health committee in the Oireachtas, and it is the first time this committee has been put in place. We have had an opportunity to hear from the educational side. I appreciate that the bullying...

Joint Oireachtas Committee on Education and Skills: Mental Health Supports in Schools and Tertiary Education: Discussion (Resumed) (8 Nov 2022)

Aisling Dolan: Very good. On Togetherall, an additional budget has been allocated for student counsellors within university and third level structures, along with psychologists and assistant psychologists. How is the roll-out of that going? Is it being promoted centrally through the Department or are universities taking a lead in how to promote that? It was mentioned that students sometimes do not feel...

Joint Oireachtas Committee on Education and Skills: Mental Health Supports in Schools and Tertiary Education: Discussion (Resumed) (8 Nov 2022)

Aisling Dolan: I will follow up on one of the Chair's points about the act of consent as it is important. It is true. We are hearing stories now that were probably hidden before on our campuses. It is shocking and it should never be accepted. Like all things, it should be a zero policy. We have to manage this as best we can. The University of Galway, through Dr. Pádraig McNeela, is rolling out...
