- Seanad: Order of Business (11 Jul 2017)
Ned O'Sullivan: I have two brief items to bring to the attention of the Leader. They both relate to tourism, which as Members know is a huge contributor to the economy. In today's edition of The Irish Times, I note that the mandarins in the Department of Finance have approached the Minister, Deputy Paschal Donohoe, with a proposal to abolish the 9% VAT rate in the hospitality sector. The 9% VAT rate has...

- Seanad: Order of Business (11 Jul 2017)
Ned O'Sullivan: I do not know. A driver had to use one to get me from here to the GPO and he could not understand a word I was saying.
- Seanad: Order of Business (11 Jul 2017)
Ned O'Sullivan: I do not know what my colleague is trying to say, but I stand over what I am saying. Certainly, 90% of taxi drivers provide a good service, but clearly there are bad eggs. I appeal to the Leader to ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport to get in touch with the taxi regulator. We had this debate a number of years ago and it is time we reopened it.
- Seanad: Rugby World Cup 2023 Bill 2017: Second Stage (11 Jul 2017)
Ned O'Sullivan: Fianna Fáil is 100% behind Ireland's bid for the Rugby World Cup in 2023 and we will support all Stages of the Bill, despite the less than satisfactory manner in which it has been presented to us, particularly the lateness of it and the rushed nature of its passage. As the Minister said, we are at the third stage of the process, which requires a number of Government guarantees and...

- Seanad: Order of Business (12 Jul 2017)
Ned O'Sullivan: I ask the Leader to invite the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport to this House to initiate a debate on our seaside resorts. We are very fortunate in this country to have some of the finest, healthiest, cleanest and most natural beaches in the world. We have them right around the country, from Ballybunion to Salthill, from Bundoran to Skerries and right down to the Leader's native...
- Seanad: Order of Business (12 Jul 2017)
Ned O'Sullivan: Here comes the history lesson. Fine Gael took the shilling off the old age pension? Does he remember that? That was Mr. Blythe I think.
- Seanad: Order of Business (12 Jul 2017)

- Seanad: Order of Business (26 Sep 2017)
Ned O'Sullivan: Ba mhaith liom cúpla focail a rá ar an ócáid speisialta seo. I am more than pleased with the result of the renovations. It is a beautiful building and it is appropriate that we have a collection Yeats's poetry outside in the atrium since he served as a Seanadóir and his son served as one of the Cathaoirleach's predecessors. I join the Cathaoirleach's words of...
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on the Eighth Amendment of the Constitution: International Legal and Services Context: Dr. Gilda Sedgh, Guttmacher Institute and Ms Leah Hoctor, Center for Reproductive Rights (8 Nov 2017)
Ned O'Sullivan: I have only a couple of brief questions which I will address to Dr. Sedgh. She stated that there are very few unsafe abortions in countries where there is a reasonably open and liberal abortion regime and there is almost a 30-fold increase in unsafe abortions in countries where legislation is very tight. I wonder how does that apply vis-à-visIreland where we have the right to travel...
